No end in sight! There are designer profiles, but not presented in the usual way. April’s subjects are both Sonia Rykiel and Lola Rykiel in “My List”— how they spend 24 hours. Fascinating. What I like best throughout is that Bazaar isn’t continuously tooting its own horn. The don’t sponsor Met exhibits or CFDA fund competitions. They will link you up to online shopping sites to buy featured merchandise, but this is how fashion magazines are trying to stay alive in the publishing desert. As you may have figured out, I read them all. I subscribe to most and look at the ones I won’t let into the house (aka People Style Watch) at the gym. IF I had the will power to stack them up like jets on a runway to Paris (instead of read as I pry them out of my mailbox), Harper’s Bazaar would be the first.
High-waisted short, skirts or pants will elongate your legs and will add a few centimeters to your height. One of my favorite looks are high-waisted pants and the blouse tucked in them. You can tuck it in only in the front and let it hang in the behind. The platform heels have an extra heel and will add a couple of inches to your appearance. You can buy yourself wedges and booties in this style and you will look taller and feel comfortable at the same time. Another way to look taller is the trick with color blending. You need to match the color of your shoes to the color of your pants, so your legs will look longer. Maxi skirts or dresses are a great way to appear taller. They look amazing on short girls even with flats, sandals or flip flops. You will also feel comfortable all day long. The crop top will make your torso appear shorter and thus will elongate your legs. Make sure you pair it with high waisted pants or skirts so your cropped top won’t be too far split from your bottoms. Rock it, wear it!

I loved all the comments on my Trends That Need to Die post, and for the most part I agree with all your choices. One of the trends mentioned was ankle pants, which obviously I have no problem with myself. I do in fact realize that they aren’t particularly flattering and that men seem to universally find them to be one of the least attractive things that women wear (my husband included). I actually derive a lot of satisfaction from sometimes wearing things that I know men find unappealing, because what I wear isn’t meant to be about what men think. Cropped pants have an irreverent, playful vibe, and they remind me of some of the late 50’s and 60’s styles that I love. They bring to mind big floppy hats, drippy ice cream cones, and a boardwalk along the beach. Fashion doesn’t always need to be about figure flattery; sometimes just being fun is enough.
